Report on the Watford game…
Does everyone we face have to look like Barca?
Ok so their Goalie wasn’t anything to write home about but there wasn’t that much about us either.
Parker was our best and then Van der Vaart played well enough and so did Walker and Lennon but too often our quality aand efficacy was somewhere between the Keystone Cops and Mr Bean.
Watford on the other hand gave a proud account of themselves and Marvin Sordell had moments where he looked the real thing. He will surely be a target for the bigger minnows or even bigger clubs.
After it all, one of our Spurs Canada Members who writes under the name of Chivers, came over and said “Well we Won!!!”.
True.
And it’s true you occasionally have to win ugly but against Watford who’s best player before Sordell was Elton John.(‘Daniel says its the best place that he’s ever bee-een’)
Look without a doubt there are many teams these days all over the different leagues who can play a very disciplined style. They are very hard to break. Watford today was no exception, but we have to see that these teams are giving us really little space.
They will let us pass it around and around and…er…around and not let us go anywhere because they have blocked up the lanes. For me the antidote of that is to open it up,stop the slow build up passing (we are not very good working inside,in the trenches) We should maybe encourage the other team to come at us and turn it around quickly before they have a time to set.
This happened at the Etihad too. In the beginning of that game we were slow building by short passing from the left side to the middle to the right side and back again and went nowhere as they had blocked any lanes for Bale and Lennon. When they started to feel confident and came at us they did score two quick goals but their defence was also stretched and we got them back because of the openings that Defoe and Bale could get through.
We either have to inject players who can work inside or learn how to counter much more quickly. Ultimately this Barca style football has to end up with end product.Passing for the sake of passing is much too Scum style for me. When Barca or Brazil play that game they are always looking for the gap.It means when there is little space a player can turn on it and beat his man.
I can’t remember in this one if we ever really did beat anyone by dribbling. It might have bounced off a few knees and bums here and there and we found ourselves with the ball but we rarely beat our man.
But look I”ll take it.I’ll take what Chivers said and say to you all…YES WE WON IT!!!!
On to the next round…Cheltenham,Watford….could it be Rutland next?????? PLEASE!!!!

Playing Stevenage is what the FA Cup is all about and with the links between the clubs and fans it makes it even more special. Growing up and living in North London most of my life if I wasn’t watching Spurs I would be either at Enfield Town or Stevenage. So for me this is going to be a great game for all involved, with a Spurs win on the cards but you never know I guess.

Yes we better have respect when playing Stevenage. Forget Inter lets think Shamrock Rovers.
But we have played Watford and will have played Stevenage.Maybe it will be a game against Seven Sister road next!
But all this is an omen. We did play the Dave Clark Five (of Tottenham once) and that year we won the double.
